Michael Zemering founded FM SYSTEMS, INC. in 1984. Coming from a background in the Military Electronic Defense industry his experience in custom electronics and high reliability mission critical systems was a good foundation for bringing quality low voltage products and security systems to the general public. Michael Zemering is president and CEO of FM Systems, Inc and Flora Zemering is corporate secretary and vice president of FM Systems, Inc. Michael was one of the inventors of the Electronic Program Guide (EPC) that is incorporated in to almost every cable and satellite set top box in homes around the world. United States Patent 4751578 was awarded to Michael in 1988. Although the on screen program guide is commonplace now it was a unique idea in 1988. He developed the concept of using a microprocessor and setup top box to receive user selectable program information that was transmitted from an information provider. Starting out in his early career in computer science and earning a degree in Electronic Data Processing his first career was programming in Assembly Language, COBAL, PL1 and BASIC. Moving on to engineering he was employed as an engineering technician at Johnson Control in Long Island City designing environmental controls for New Yorks skyscrapers. He was later employed at AUL instruments as a Design Engineer. He moved up to chief engineer of General Aero Products and then to Program Manager for Ferranti International plc. Some products design by Michael include; US Air force flight line test equipment and Aircraft Cockpit Instruments; components for heads-up and heads-down displays, Military Aircraft Battery Chargers, US Postal Service Stamp, Booklet Vending Machines and Money Changers, parts for the M1 A48 Military Tank, Laser Range Finder Systems, Aircraft Compass, RF Signal Generators, Navy Ship Board Communication System and many microprocessor controlled systems. Michael has been the president of the Long Island Alarm Association and is presently the Vice President of the Metropolitan Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. The MBFAA is one of New Yorks oldest Low Voltage contractor associations. FM Systems, Inc. client base includes AT&T, USP, McDonalds, Boston Market, and The Town Of Oyster Bay, The village of Lake Success and Dunbar Armored Car. FM Systems also has performed service for Victoria Secrete, Best Buy, Cheese Cake Factory, Lane Bryant, Stop & Shop, The Limited, Brookstone, Rite Aid Drug Stores, Game Stop, and Ann Taylor. FM Systems product line presently includes a unique line of integrated system. Their specialties include completely integrating home automation, environmental control, lighting control, home theater systems, computer networks, and remote video monitoring. On the commercial side, FM Systems can integrate phone systems, network systems, web development, security, Fire Alarm, access control, and remote video monitoring. FM Systems will also supply computers and install software to get a new business off to a running start. FM Systems provides a one-stop-shopping experience to its clients. FM Systems under the direction of Michael was one of the first security companies it becomes licensed in New York State.
